Springboard TV has a glittering night to give the College of West Anglia?s version of the Oscars

Young film-makers at the College of West Anglia celebrated another Oscar-style awards night with a string of successes.

Film and media students celebrated their creativity and success on Tuesday with an annual awards ceremony and screening of the winning ?movies at the Lynn Arts Centre.

BTEC and A-level students join their friends and family to collect their awards and to finally see their films on the big screen.

The college?s media and film department has been transformed over the last few years with the introduction of Springboard TV, a website where students can upload the content they make for the world to see, providing a real audience who can respond to their work, and this has fuelled their creativity.

Categories included best cinematographer, best screenplay and most original film.

Tutor Sophia Gatrell said: ?The Springboard TV Awards is a chance for King?s Lynn to recognise the incredible talent that we have here, and a chance for our students to enjoy and share the films they have created on the big screen where they belong?.

?There has never been a more exciting time to embark on a career in media.

Technology is evolving at the speed of light and presenting new opportunities and challenges to the ways we work.?

?The winning students each possessed the most important traits necessary to be successful in modern media; a fresh perspective and a clear passion not only for their subjects, but also for their craft?, explained programme ?manager Emma Forrest-Leigh.

?The standard of work across the awards this year has been incredibly high, making the jobs of the judges very difficult, and it?s great to know that a new generation of talented media enthusiasts is ready to enter the industry.?
