Rome--Where Religion and Politics Meet

Having grabbed the attention of the whole world by his shock resignation from papal office, the subsequent actions of Joseph Ratzinger give an inkling as to his future influence within the Vatican and in global politics.

On Saturday, Ratzinger summoned Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti to an unscheduled private audience. With the Italian elections looming within days, the pope has already gone public on endorsing Monti?s candidature for election as Italy?s prime minister.

Interestingly, on the same day of his unscheduled meeting with Monti, the pope indicated that the day following the elections, he will have a meeting behind closed doors with a select few cardinals. No doubt the discussion will center around the outcome of the Italian elections and their impact on the future of the European Union.

With indications that the euro crisis is deepening, it is apparent that strong, assertive leadership is going to be required to dig the EU out of its financial hole.

Mario Monti has already described Joseph Ratzinger?s encyclical Caritas in Veritate as amounting to a blueprint for a ?new world order.? If Monti is elected prime minister of Italy, and if the September elections in Germany produce a strong, action-oriented chancellor who is similarly attuned to the worth of Ratzinger?s encyclical as the basis for a new world order, then it becomes entirely feasible that they will work, with the support of Roman Catholic EU elites, to bring that order to fruition.

Nothing else has worked to date to turn the European and global financial crisis around.

In his article titled ?The Fourth Reich Is Here,? published in our November/December 2011 edition of the Trumpet magazine, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry pointed to an enlighteningly prescient prophecy by Herbert Armstrong:

The financial crises we are now experiencing were forecast by Herbert Armstrong back in 1984. A massive banking crisis in America ?could suddenly result in triggering European nations to unite as a new world power larger than either the Soviet Union or the U.S.,? he wrote. ?That, in turn, could bring on the Great Tribulation suddenly! And that will lead quickly to the Second Coming of Christ and the end of this world as we know it.?

Mr. Armstrong prophesied that a financial crisis could trigger a chain of events leading right up to the return of Jesus Christ. Is this what we are now experiencing?

Whether such a collapse is deliberately engineered or happens by dint of circumstance is beside the point. The reality is that the world is heading for just that?global financial collapse, and many of the sharpest of observers are warning of the imminence of such a scenario.

So where does Rome stand in all of this?

Amid all of the confusing hype that the mainstream media has drummed up surrounding Pope Benedict?s resignation, a few keen observations have been made.

One such, given the effort that popes John Paul ii and Benedict xvi committed to rebuilding the Curia as a body in tune with their Holy Roman imperial vision, comes from Alexander Lee, a research fellow at the universities of Luxembourg and Warwick. He states that ?the fact that the church will proceed smoothly to elect a new pontiff during the Lenten period illustrates that the papacy is, for the first time in its history, well-supported by a smoothly-functioning Curia, and grounded in a sense of electoral authority that has finally overcome the instabilities of the past? (History Today, February 13).

Though this view flies in the face of that which the liberal press have sought to foist off on to the public in the wake of the undoubted resistance Benedict has faced from the middle ranks of Catholic hierarchy, it does speak to the strength of this pope?s relationship with the echelon that counts in papal power politics?the Curia.

As to Joseph Ratzinger?s continuing influence on the institution of the papacy itself, Lee comments that ?he has shown that the institution of the papacy is alive and kicking, and ready to face the challenges of the 21st century with confidence.?

The main challenge that the papacy faces in terms of its religious and political role is the same that the globe faces universally at present?the survival or otherwise of the global financial and economic system.

Fully three years ago Benedict made his position very clear on this subject. He wants a new system created under the religious vision of Rome. At a meeting with members of the Union of Industrialists and Businesses of Rome, Pope Benedict xvi reinforced his call for a new global financial order. Referring to the ongoing global financial crisis, Benedict ?noted how it has ?sorely tried the economic and productive systems of various countries. Nonetheless, it should be faced with trust because it can be considered as an opportunity for the revision of development models and the reorganization of global finance ??? (Vatican Information Service, March 18, 2010).

In pointing to his conviction that now was the time for a revision of the world?s financial system, in that which he described as ?a new time? of ?profound reflection,? Benedict used crusading language in his widely publicized encyclical Caritas in Veritate, calling for a new financial and economic order.

In that encyclical, endorsing the application of Catholic social doctrine on the global order, the pope highlighted that ?he had encouraged the world of ?economics and finance to focus on the person, whom Christ revealed in His profoundest dignity. Moreover, while recommending that politics not be subordinate to financial mechanisms, I encouraged the reform and creation of an international juridical and political order (adapted to global structures of economy and finance) in order more effectively to achieve the common good of the human family?? (ibid).

That is pure, unadulterated Catholic social doctrine: the merging of the religion of Rome with a universal social order that dictates juridical, political, economic and financial control. It is the very philosophy that underpinned the institution of the Holy Roman Empire of old. Its outcome is prophesied in your Bible in Revelation 13.

Just one year ago, during the G-20 summit, realizing the vital nature of the matters the G-20 was considering, the Vatican issued a call for a return to the old Holy Roman imperial approach to financial governance.

This move took us one further step toward the fulfillment of the great prophecy for our times penned by the Apostle John under divine inspiration almost 2,000 years ago. That prophecy, contained in the 13th chapter of the book of Revelation, speaks of a time when a great religious institution will hold powerful sway over a northern European empire to the extent of imposing its will on global trade and finance.

With that prophecy in mind, it is extremely interesting to consider the following statement released at the time by the Vatican Information Service (vis): ?This morning in the Holy See Press Office, a press conference was held to present a note from the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace entitled: ?Towards reforming the international financial and monetary systems in the context of a global public authority?? (Oct. 24, 2011).

The note was presented by Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson and Bishop Mario Toso.

In relation to the current global financial crisis, vis quoted Cardinal Turkson as stating that the pope and ?the Holy See are following these matters with particular concern, constantly calling not just for ?joint action,? but for ?examination of every facet of the problem: social, economic, cultural and spiritual.? It is in this spirit of discernment that the Holy See, with the note of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, wishes to make a contribution which might be useful to the deliberations of the G-20 meeting.?

The article quoted Bishop Toso as explaining that the aim of the note is to ?suggest possible paths to follow, in line with the most recent social Magisterium, for the implementation of financial and monetary policies ? that are effective and representative at a global level.?

Certain dissenting voices which were in opposition to the pope?s vision as declared in his encyclical Caritas in Veritate decried the release of this statement. However, one influential Eurocrat fully embraced it?Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti.

Upon its release, Mario Monti was effusive in his endorsement of the pope?s encyclical Caritas in Veritate, claiming that it was a virtual textbook for the operation of a global economy and universal society.

La Stampa reported that as he presented Benedict xvi?s social encyclical in Saint John Lateran, the pope?s cathedral, on Feb. 23, 2010, Monti declared that ?The Caritas in Veritate document resembles a technical governing handbook for society in which economy plays a fundamental role, as a natural outcome of ethical reflection, and even has the agreement of those who do not share in the Catholic ethical vision? (Nov. 14, 2011). Monti used that occasion also to publicly declare himself ?to be Catholic.?

Mario Monti is a member of the EU splinter organization called ?The Spinelli Group.? That group is committed to establishing a federal Europe based on the Catholic social chapter that underpins the pope?s ?governing handbook for society.? Endorsement of that Roman imperialist vision marks Monti out as one of those in tune with the European elites who are in the process at this time of carving up Europe into a continent where the many will become the vassals of the few.

Monti was summoned by Pope Benedict to an unscheduled meeting behind closed doors last weekend. Is it possible that their discussion centered on the pope?s will that, should Monti gain the Italian premiership next Sunday, Benedict would be encouraging Monti to lead a crusade for the implementation of the global order as outlined in Caritas in Veritate?

Time will tell. We certainly will not have to wait very long to find out.

One thing is for sure, with every nail that is daily driven into the coffin of the present failed global system, the great prophecies of Relation 13 and 17 come one step closer to fulfillment!

Read and study our booklet Germany and the Holy Roman Empire for further insight into the current situation in Europe and where it is headed. ?

Flint mayor will use 'State of the City' address to look to a future without an emergency manager

Flint?s mayor delivers his State of the City address tomorrow.

He says he?ll map out a path for Flint to no longer need an emergency financial manager running his city.

Mayor Dayne Walling says now?s the time to begin preparing for life after an emergency manager.

The city has been under the direction of a state appointed manager since December of 2011.

The new emergency manager law that takes effect next month includes a provision that details how cities can get back to self-control.

Walling says he?ll use his State of the City address to lay out how that transition can take place.

?There are a number of steps that have to be taken, but I don?t give another State of the City for another 12 months, and a lot can get done between now and then, to move through this transition process,? says Walling.?

One major hurdle for the city to exit out of having an emergency manager is coming up with a workable plan to close its 19 million dollar deficit.

Nation on vacation - Opinion - The Spectrum - The University of Buffalo

So ? remember the fiscal cliff?

At the end of 2012, Congress faced a serious dilemma: compromise on a new deal to address a $1 trillion budget gap by the beginning of the new year or risk sending the economy into another recession. Its grand compromise was to patch up a few things here and there and then postpone the rest for two months. Problem (temporarily) solved.

Could our government possibly be more incompetent? Well, where there?s a will, there?s a way. The two months end on March 1, and Congress just took a 10-day vacation.

Lawmakers are off until Feb. 25 for their Presidents? Day recess, leaving them only four days to seal the deal when they reconvene. Prior to the break, Democrats offered their plan to address sequestration ? automatic cuts in spending ? with tax increases and more graduate spending cuts. Republicans, however, want to replace it only with other spending. President Obama has made it clear on multiple occasions he doesn?t want to see the automatic cuts go into place.

Let?s be honest: nobody does. But it?s hard to believe Congress is taking any of this seriously if its members are currently off lounging in Boca Raton. We are constantly battling economic crisis, and we?ve elected and employed the most inept Congress in our nation?s history. Last year, the 112th Congress? average approval rating was 15 percent, the lowest ever in Gallup?s history. Currently, the month-old 113th Congress? rating is at 14 percent.

Yet, these are the people we have elected to run our country. Every four years, we put all our time and energy into a big, flashy presidential election so we can pick our new scapegoat, but when it?s all said and done, it?s our comrades in the Capitol who do all the bidding.

So now ? thanks to their utter inability to compromise or work efficiently ? they have a lot to bid on when they return all refreshed and tan, starting with the spending cuts. Jan. 1?s American Taxpayer Relief Act postponed any sequestration movement until March, leaving the impending $1.2 trillion worth of cuts over the next 10 years in the shadows. Some of the cuts that could occur would affect defense and non-defense accounts, such as education, the IRS, border patrols, homeland security as whole, Medicare, health and safety inspections, loan guarantee reductions and cuts to health care-related jobs.

Those cuts could cause massive complications to students in higher education programs. Sequestration included a reduction of 8.2 percent in federal financial aid, totaling approximately $350 million (for reference: in 2011-12, the total federal aid for undergraduate students was about $135.9 billion). In turn, scholarship programs, work study and research grants would be affected by the automatic cuts.

On top of that, Congress still needs to figure out a budget. The fiscal year began at the beginning of October. That?s right ? it?s been over four months since the beginning of the current fiscal year, and there is still no budget set in stone. This means funding for all federal agencies will expire in two weeks without it. And because of the newest saga in the ongoing series of debt ceiling crises, the government is expected to default on existing loans without a new increase after the country hits its $16.4 trillion borrowing limit at the end of December.

Happy 2013.

Congress either has to let in and compromise or let the cuts happen, and at this point, it just seems like it?s playing the world?s longest game of chicken. How long can each party and each house last? How long can we, the people, last?

Gracenote unleashes its vast musical knowhow to developers

You've probably used Gracenote thousands of times and have been none the wiser, but for good reason: the musical metadata service lives in the background of several apps, appearing only momentarily to bring meaning to your favorite tunes. Now, Gracenote is looking to expand its reach by opening its APIs and SDKs to app developers -- effectively putting its massive database in the hands of all who seek it. Of course, ripping CDs isn't quite what it once was, and that's why Gracenote has also opened its MusicID song recognition service to developers, allowing them to harness the same functionality of apps such as Shazam and SoundHound. The free service is available now, and for extra insight, you'll find the full PR after the break.

[All iPads] iPad for College Student - Textbooks/PDFs

I originally used an iPad 2 when it was released for a few months and then sold it because I didn't use it much. But I purchased a mini about a month ago, and I've been using it extensively in most of my classes.

I much prefer the size over the original iPad, because it's the size of a small notebook while being thinner. It's also so much lighter than the full size iPad, which I think makes for a much better experience.

I think the lower price point also makes much more sense to me for the things I use the device for. I probably wouldn't be able to justify it if it were more expensive, and that's the reason I sold my iPad 2.

I mostly use the UPAD app to take hand-written notes (along with typing sections as well), marking up PDFs as well as powerpoint handouts in PDF format. To get the files on my iPad, I'll download the documents on my MacBook, and save them in PDF format in a Dropbox folder that I access on the mini. I used to be able to convert the documents to PDF format directly on the iPad using an app from Adobe, but they seem to have removed it from the App store.

I also use iBooks for my other textbooks, and I can easily open up documents which were emailed to me and read them in the mail app.

It's a great device for reading, and occasionally I like to use apps such as Paper by 53, or Inspire Pro to virtually paint a bit just for fun. I do wish i had more capacity on the base model mini though. But I do carry my 64GB iPhone with me everywhere, and that has virtually my entire library of media, so it's not really that big of a deal.

HTC One will replace One X as flagship HTC device: report

HTC is poised to release a new phone called the One in the US on March 22, according to one tech site.?

That's the word today from tech site HTC Source, which reports that the device will launch on March 8 in Europe ? under the Nokia-ish moniker M7 ? and in the US on March 22. Stateside, the HTC One will be sold by Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint; $200 and a two-year contract will get you the 32GB model and $300 and the same contract will buy you 64GB.?

"Our source has also confirmed that the?HTC One will have metal casing?with front-facing stereo speakers,"?writes?Nick Gray of HTC Source.?"The device will be available in both black and silver/white. Previous images of the?HTC One with a black soft-touch casing?were real, but our source claims they were pre-production units which were used during various phases of testing."

Standard caveats apply: Gray hasn't identified his source, besides saying the person is "trusted," and HTC hasn't commented one way or another on the rumors. But the timing certainly lines up. The last HTC flagship device, the HTC One X, was unveiled in February of 2012, and officially launched a few months later. One year ago, in other words, which means the HTC smartphone line is due for a shake-up.?

The One X was generally liked by critics, who praised the speed, power, and feel of the phone.?

"[T]he HTC One X is a beautiful piece of kit," wrote one reviewer. "It's stylishly designed, light, has a cracking screen and comes with enough future-proofing to make us believe our grandchildren may still have one...?In short: the rivals better step it up in 2012 if they want to stop the HTC sparking a big revival for the popular smartphone brand."

But that big revival never came. Reports last summer indicated that the One X was "underperforming," and that HTC's overall sales, in the months after the One X was released, were slipping. According to Bloomberg, HTC recently dropped off the leader board of the top five global smartphone brands ? a list currently led by Samsung and Apple.?

GOP Blocks Nomination of Hagel, for Now

(Newser) ? The Chuck Hagel drama continued on Capitol Hill today, as Republicans refused to allow a final vote on his confirmation to become defense secretary, reports the Hill. Hagel is expected to prevail eventually?but now it can't happen until lawmakers return from the Presidents' Day recess. Expect the next vote on Feb. 26, reports Politico. One of the sticking points is that Republicans want more information about Hagel's compensation for speeches he gave after leaving the Senate in 2008.

?I think it?s appropriate to wait until we come back,? said John McCain. ?I think there?s plenty of time to have any further questions answered and I intend to vote for cloture then.? Harry Reid needed 60 votes to force an up-or-down vote today, but he came up with only 58. The White House, noting earlier that Hagel would miss a NATO meeting in Brussels next week, called the GOP tactics "unconscionable." The move marks the first time a nominee for defense secretary has faced a filibuster, reports the Washington Post.

Your Words and Actions During Change Management | Kevin ...

A careful and clear communication strategy is the foundation of any successful business turnaround process. It is important that an effective communication strategy is defined about the reasons, the benefits, the plans and proposed effects of that change. This communication strategy needs to address:

  • What are the objectives?
  • What are the key messages?
  • Who are we trying to reach and why?
  • What information will be communicated?
  • When will information be disseminated, and what are the relevant timings?
  • How much information will be provided, and to what level of detail?
  • What mechanisms will be used to disseminate information?
  • How will feedback be encouraged?
  • What will be done as a result of feedback?

Most people involved in Turnarounds are accountants or have operational experience. Whilst this is a good thing in one way, there are tendencies to ignore the sales and marketing side of the business, apart from reducing their budgets.

There is room for the transactional side of a turnaround and also the creative side of the turnaround too.

This step actually takes place during part of the dialogue listed above. By getting the people connected and inspired by the original intention of the business, the company?s ?Why??, can have people seeking to thrive rather than trying to survive. These two environments are drastically different in mindset and performance levels.

The Most basic type of Kishin Eggs, Evil humans are those who have committed evil deeds, like murder, and their soul gets tainted in the process. A human who has become a Evil human usually doesn't keep their human characteristics. They can become giants, shrink to midgets, anything you could think of. There are some evil humans who keeps some of their human characteristics, like Alcapone.

These are Undead corpses that have been brought back by a Witch to go wreak havoc on whatever crosses it's path. These require a human soul, a ritual, and the magic of a Witch to create. They can be tricky to get rid of because they move slow and are extremely resilient, but they are usually just cannon fodder and used for distractions. Easy souls for your weapon though.

Dark Weapon

This type of Kishin Egg is a weapon gone crazy devouring Human Souls. They can vary anywhere between a giant monster with razor blade hands or a normal dark human with blaster fingers. They are considered betrayers to the Academy, and are one of the top priorities to deal with when one is discovered.

Egg Leader

These guys are the closest to becoming a full blown Kishin and are the ones who are usually leading other Kishin Eggs. They are considerably more powerful than their other Egg subordinates. They are considered one of the most dangerous Kishin Eggs there are, and fighters should beware.

Black Blood Fighters

Not always Evil, but they are considered to have a considerable bit more madness than most other normal people, and those who are able to control the Black Blood are extremely powerful. If they are Evil, they are top priority for the DWMA right behind witches.

Well this was horrible, I mainly just came up with some of these on my own, so they probably really suck. Oh well, I like them. Any questions on them post here.
