My name is Lars and I?m a German tutor living and working in Camden, north London. I have lived in London for the last two years. Before that I spent two years living in Edinburgh where I taught German at a languageschool. Whilst I was in Edinburgh I also supplemented my income by giving private lessons. I taught at my home and also travelled to students? homes as long as they didn?t live too far from me. There is a big difference between teaching a group of students and teaching on a one-to-one basis. When I was in Edinburgh I was registered with a tutoring agency and when I came to live in London I registered with a similar agency here called German tuition London?which helps me to find private students. In the beginning I taught German for young foreign students in Germany while I studied there. They wanted to pass a certain exam which is a prerequisite in order to study in Germany. After that I got my diploma and I taught in Hungary as a private teacher for several families. The youngest child I taught was five years old and I also taught adults. I am a very enthusiastic tutor and I like my classes to be interesting. I think language teaching should be fun and if the student has fun while studying, they will find it easier to learn. I have lots of games and other activities for teaching children in a fun way. When teaching adults I try to make the lesson interesting. I have a lot of techniques for teaching new vocabulary and grammar. When teaching groups of students I make a lot of exercises for group and pair work. I place a lot of emphasis on conversation and I also concentrate on pronunciation without neglecting the teaching of German grammar.
