Windows 8 - dual monitor - dual black screen

Hi guys, recently I plugged in a second monitor into my windows 8, Hewlette Packard, Pavilion, computer and took the necessary precautions and preparations to make sure this dual monitor setup would work. Unfortunately, after selecting "show desktop on 2 monitors", both screens went black and has not turned on since. I have tried everything and they will not work.

I've tried System Restore, Safe Mode, Dos, etc. None of the conventional, keyboard, shortcuts work. I've since unplugged one monitor and restarted, killed power for 30 seconds, (Emergency shutdown). Seriously, what ever people suggested concerning the keyboard and monitor setup I have tried and those were just commonly known methods. Some one suggested that I buy a HDMI capable, as this has worked for them in the past and they had found out that their monitor signal had just switched from DVI to its adjacent HDMI port.

What i see when I start my computer is the "HP" sign with a loading dial and then a flash of a centered desktop square -after which my computer screen loses signal and then the monitor says, "Monitor going to sleep". Does ANYONE know how to resolve this? I would really hate to return my computer for another as its a perfectly good computer and I've done some stuff on it, set settings and a whole slew of things that I just don't want to redo.
